The Birth Of Innocence
Reviews
Seven Days Vermont recent review:
Reviews submitted by individuals:
"The
movie is like a dream.
It's beautiful random images
mixed with music, spoken word, and sound design
that just makes you forget everything
and just zone out on the experience -
kind of like when you have a dream that's so nice,
when you wake up,
you wish you could fall back asleep
into the same dream again."

I also loved that this movie represented
a cross-section of people
that are from all walks of life ...
all different racial backgrounds and ages.
This is not your typical movie that only casts models...
it is representative of our world
and the varied beauty of each individual.

"Birth of Innocence still achieves a level of intimacy
that I found rather special for the type of film it is.
For most people, the inner child we all have within us
is still yearning to be nurtured.
This film is thoughtful in the way it aims
to generate such a spark."

"This was such a beautiful experience
visually and audibly.
The cinematography was amazing...
a feast for the eyes."

"The narrative was executed with a peaceful cadence
that kept you totally engaged.
The introspective nature of The Birth of Innocence gave me pause
to take note of how much I am missing
by just living through the every day
automatic actions of work and home.
I need to experience the beauty of nature more fully."

"The part that spoke of our society
being placed in rows
really resonated with me.
It's something that you take for granted,
being a way to keep society organized and less chaotic.
It elicited an emotional response upon reflection.
Being in lines or rows in most aspects of life
until you are buried in a row of a cemetery
is quite depressing.
This film is a chance to wake up."
__________________________
"The editing is seamless,
while the score could not be more perfect
with each aspect of the movie.
It is truly a beautiful experience. I need to own this."

"I believe it's more than possible
that the public worldwide
is ready for something to come along
with the ebullient message
that there is a place within us all
that no one can violate,
from which our real beauty and power springs,
that is an antidote to the hopelessness
that billions of people feel
about their place in the world
and the world in which we live.
In most people's eyes, it is falling apart at the seams.
Just like it is portrayed in Birth Of Innocence,
they try to fill up that hole in their lives
with stimulation and distraction."
__________________________
"Birth of Innocence is a reminder
that there is so much more to life
than what we have been living.
That's the touchstone."

"Birth of Innocence
is a piece about mankind's natural tendency
toward artistry, expression, and progress.
It touches on the universal challenges we all face
when overwhelmed with a flawed society
that often values labor and conformity
over happiness and health.
However, it does this while remaining focused
on the fact that none of us
are ever truly alone in this world
no matter how much we are encouraged
to believe otherwise.
While the film does remind us all
of how easily corrupted we can become
if we lose sight of our goals,
I believe the aim of the film
is to empower the viewer rather than diminish.
Though it takes a more singular approach
with its presentation
by emphasizing the individuality of the viewer,
Birth of Innocence still achieves a level of intimacy
that I found rather special for the type of film it is.
For most people, the inner child we all have within us
is still yearning to be nurtured.
This film is thoughtful
in the way it aims to generate such a spark.
"The charming narration
by both Vanya Vermani and Don Miguel Ruiz
compliment one another quite well
in how they guide the viewer along the journey.
Both of them have unique voices
that lend themselves to the purity
of what you're seeing.
And speaking of seeing,
the visuals are especially beautiful in their simplicity.
None of it comes across
as overly abstract or meditative.
Many of its images echoed in my mind
as loudly as the sound did after the film concluded.
I would recommend the film to anybody
who is open-minded and wants to go on a journey."
__________________________
"It seems to me that the film speaks
to an unawakened inner state
of the human condition
as an invitation to move beyond oneself
into a heightened consciousness
that aligns with benevolent regard for all of life,
implicating benevolent regard
for each other and the environment.
It postures one as a very small entity
in the majestic universe
yet as human, one with an inner door that opens
to a universal awakening
of awe and wonder within that is also without.

"If I only had one hour left to live
I would want to spend it watching this film"
"Makes me feel like I'm the first human"
"A superconductor for the soul"
"I felt cleansed of residual negativity
that had built up without my even knowing"
"A mirror that reflects our deeper self"
"I thought I had stepped into a poem"
"Hypnotic - trance-like"
"A meltdown"
"A very gentle, drug-free ayahuasca experience!"
"Most movies have a 2D consciousness;
this film has a 3D consciousness"
"This is the anti-movie!"
"You're IN it as opposed to just observing"
"I felt like I was experiencing
someone else's dream"
"Impeccable"
"A feast for the senses"
"It's not a film; it's an experience"
"Takes you far beyond
where most people have never been"
"My ideas were evolving along with it"
"Inspirational"
"Thought provoking"
"You feel a presence"
"I don't know if I can talk"
"If you can stop your world long enough to see it
you will be deeply affected"
I'm mesmerized by the beauty of it"
"Leaves you with a lot to think about"
"Has another plane than other film experiences"
"An invitation to look within"
"A concert of sound, visuals, and spoken word"
"I could hear myself breathing
for the first time in a very long time"

The Birth Of Innocence
Reviews
Seven Days Vermont recent review:
"The film is [primarily] narrated by Don Miguel Ruiz, author of The Four Agreements: A Practical Guide to Personal Freedom
and a spiritual teacher who’s been featured on “Super Soul Sunday” with Oprah Winfrey. Ruiz is the voice of “human experience,”
while Vanya Vermani is the childlike “voice of stillness,” which is heard early in the film and again toward the end.
"Ruiz leads filmgoers through a series of questions and challenges centered on how we’ve lost touch with our inner creative spirit,
our “source” and our desire to keep learning throughout life. “We have grown arrogant,” he observes. “We insist we know all there is to know.”
"The film doesn’t pretend to know the answers. Thankfully, it doesn’t espouse any single spiritual denomination,
nor does it try to sell the viewer on a meditative practice or wellness product. It also doesn’t appropriate other cultures’ approaches
to enlightenment or meaningful spiritual connection and repackage them for white audiences.
"Rather, The Birth of Innocence is about learning to unlearn that which holds us back and keeps us from embracing an inner self
that has always been there and always will be. It’s been with us since birth, the film tells us.
"That’s perhaps why another “Super Soul Sunday” featured guest, Brother David Steindl-Rast, a world-renowned author, scholar
and Benedictine monk, is one of the film’s many fans. His blurb of support was read aloud ahead of the film’s recent screening at Essex Cinemas:
“We live in a time when everything seems to fall apart because the center will not hold,” the statement reads, echoing the famous line
from William Butler Yeats’ poem The Second Coming. But the film has exactly the opposite message. The film shows us how
in nature everything is connected,” Steindl-Rast continues. “Just allow the quiet impact to lead you
to that deep inner quiet and peace that unites all of us.”

"THAT’S A GREAT
FILM, CAT!
I’M SURE IT WILL INSPIRE MANY PEOPLE.
ALL THREE OF US WERE QUITE IMPRESSED,
NOT ONLY BY THE MESSAGE,
BUT BY THE STUNNING PHOTOGRAPHY
AND THE FINE MUSIC.
AT FIRST, WE WERE PLANNING
TO VIEW ONLY PART OF THE FILM,
SINCE IT WAS LATE,
BUT WE ENJOYED IT SO MUCH
THAT WE ENDED UP
STAYING WIDE AWAKE TO THE END.
"I’LL LONG REMEMBER THE WINGBEAT
OF THOSE ENORMOUS FLOCKS OF BIRDS,
AND THE HUMOROUS PICTURES
SHOWING HOW SOCIETY PUTS US IN ROWS,
FROM GRADE-SCHOOL TO CEMETERY."
